Title: Kindergarten Teacher
Luayne was born and raised in Ukiah in a family full of teachers. She is very excited to be returning to DVCS as the Kindergarten teacher!! It's been her idea of a dream job since her kids attended Kindergarten at DVCS with Christie Brandt.

Luayne received her Bachelor's degree from UC Davis, her Masters from CSU Sacramento and her multiple-subjects teaching credential from Dominican. She says she was blessed to raise three high-energy, lovely children - who are now launched into adulthood!

Her teaching experience includes teaching pre-school and Kindergarten at New Life Pre-School in Ukiah, four years teaching Kindergarten at DVCS and most recently working at LaVida Charter School and Tree of Life Charter School.

She is passionately convinced of the necessity of a Christian education based on a firm foundation in Scripture and the need to help our children develop a Biblical worldview with hearts sensitive to the Lord. What better time to start than Kindergarten!! She is excited to be part of this re-generation of DVCS.

Staff Photo Name: Mrs. Kendra
Title: Kindergarten Teacher
Kendra is a Ukiah native, living here with her husband and three young children. In high school she made a goal to become bilingual, as she would hope to later move to Mexico. She attended CSU, Chico, obtaining a B.A. in Sociology, as well as taking advanced Spanish grammar, literature, and speech/debate courses, increasing her command of the language. Upon graduating college, Kendra obtained a TESL certificate and taught English at Shekinah Bible Institute in Chiapas, Mx. Over the span of five years in Mexico, she taught preschool and tutoring programs in a domestic violence shelter, then served in ministry with Gloria World Mission--church planting, translating, developing children's programs, teaching English, and working/living in a group home alongside her husband, Jose Luis. The Cueyo family has been back in Ukiah four years, where they attend Rey de Reyes Church. She works as a Patient Advocate for non-English speaking patients at the Center for Life Choices and has worked translating at Ukiah Valley Medical Center. Kendra is excited to teach the Spanish enrichment class to our kindergarteners, hoping to transmit her love of the language to the kids. Learning a language can be fun! She will introduce Spanish through songs, games, stories, and call/recall activities. She hopes this year will be the starting point for the kids to pursue the Spanish language.

Title: Kindergarten Teacher
Jeanette was born and raised in Rohnert Park, California, where she developed an early love of music through her home church, private piano instruction, and later in grade school, high school, and college.

She began to play the piano for church services at the age of 10 and by the time she was a sophomore she was offered a position as the choir accompanist for her private christian school.

She spent her last years of high school in the ArtQuest program at Santa Rosa High School playing percussion in band and singing in their auditioned performance choir as well as their exclusive chamber ensemble. During this time she continued to study private piano, achieving advanced levels in the Certificate of Merit program and attending several summer music camps.

She also began her own private piano studio during her senior year of high school. Upon graduation, Jeanette earned several scholarships to study music at the university. After completing her general education at the Santa Rosa Junior College, Jeanette transferred to Fresno Pacific University where she continued taking private piano instruction, was an active accompanist for choirs, vocalists, and other instruments, and enjoyed singing in their touring choir.

After completing her formal education Jeanette met and married her husband, Jason Wise, a former pupil at Deep Valley Christian School. Along with their three children, Jason and Jeanette have made a home for themselves in Redwood Valley where Jeanette continues to expand her love for music by playing in her church and by teaching young children.

Their oldest son will be attending the Kindergarten class for the 2017-2018 school year and Jeanette is excited to be able to partner along with his school in providing an opportunity for music to influence the lives of these young children as it did her own. It is her goal to give the students at Deep Valley Christian School regular and meaningful exposure to song, pitch, and rhythm. By the end of the school year, students will have learned not only to play various familiar tunes on their own classroom set of handbells, but in so doing will have learned a basic understanding of musical terms, will be well on their way to reading music notation, and most importantly will have had tons of practice matching pitch, which is a skill learned with much more ease up until the age of about seven.

Jeanette is excited to have the opportunity to spend time learning about each student and to sing, play, and dance with them, all for the glory of God.
